An Online Parish Magazine!

Reasons For A Web-based Community Effort

The History

There has been a fairly static, infrequently changed, village website for years although no one has shown much interest in it. There has only ever been one unprovoked request to include anything on it. Everything else has been assembled by one person (sometimes with help, admittedly).

Towards a Communal Village Website

It is tentatively suggested that an online equivalent of the Parish Pump (a printed A5 publication that comes out every 2 months) could be created using the Jimdo principle of "Pages to the People". A basic skeletal site (this one) would hold things together while village organisations & local businesses would be responsible for their own linked sites & content.

Website Development Just Got Easier!

The development and maintenance of a website is now easier than it ever was. No technical knowledge is required. With the likes of Jimdo all the facilities you need are available in one internet application which you can start off using for free.

Become a Jimdo PagePartner

If you have information you want to impart to people in the Bishop Wilton Community why not set up a Jimdo website? This is much more straighforward than having that information maintained on the main village website. You can maintain it yourself and the facility is free unless you want to expand into a Pro account.

If you sign up via the form below you will be given a template that looks like this site. If you are operating out of the village or parish of Bishop Wilton this might be appropriate to you. However, if it isn't, you can change it as you see fit. Why not give it a try?

Location, Location

Bishop Wilton is in East Yorkshire in the UK, to the East of York. It is on the edge of the Vale of York just beneath the Yorkshire Wolds.

The panoramic photograph of the village used in the heading to these pages is taken from the Wolds.

If you want to see it on a map, have a look at the Location page.
